Consultatieburo

Today both children had an appointment at the consultatieburo (well-baby/child clinic). Felix is a whopping 15.5 pounds (7060 grams), putting him in the 91st percentile. They didn't measure him, not even when asked, because they say it's not good for the hips... So no measurement there.

Evie weighed in at 35 pounds, which makes her weight in kilo (16) just about the same as Felix's weight in pounds. Her height is 101 cm (3 feet 3.75 inches). The percentiles are 82nd and 93rd, respectively. Evie had her first vision test and had to demonstrate that she could put the block in the proper slot in the shape sorter. She passed both tests.

At the end of the visit Felix got his first immunizations. He didn't even cry until the second shot, and then only for about ten seconds. Hopefully the only side effect will be sleeping through the night. ;-) Felix goes back next month for another appointment and more shots. Evie doesn't have to return for another 8 months at which time she, too, will get a shot.

Felix Rolls Over

Felix reached another milestone yesterday when he rolled over from his belly to his back. And of course there needs to be video evidence!

More smiles

Evie asks to hold Felix, then she sits up, puts a smile on her face and says, "Mama, you have to take a picture of us." And the result:
I guess shoving the camera in her face her whole childhood has worked to our advantage.

Felix is also starting to ham it up for the camera. We're still blaming jet lag for the fact that Felix was wide awake from 9-11pm last night. At least he was happy.

Two weeks later

No more posts from Maine after the 4th of July, but we did have a lot of fun that last week and a half. We all went to the Children's Museum of Maine in Portland. Tom painted an Ikea step-stool to be auctioned off for the Chebeague Recreation Center. Amaya played in the Chebeague Children's Theatre's production of Cinderella. We attended a Great Gatsby Lawn Party and Croquet Tournement where Tom came in fourth place! (more pictures here) And we sadly returned to Holland.

And now we are all recovering from jet lag. It seems to have hit the kids pretty hard. And the stomach bug Evie got Saturday didn't help either. But we're back, and that's all that matters.

So here is a long video to make up for lost blogging time. It's eleven minutes long, so make sure you're ready for it!

Happy 4th of July!

Here are some pictures from the 4th of July festivities on the island, mainly the parade. This year's theme was Mardi Gras!!

Incoming

The last few days have been great with Aunty Viki, Kanoa, and Amaya joining us on Wednesday, Uncle Thijs and Aunty Christyl coming Thursday, and the sun (finally) showing up today, Friday. Sorry we don't have very many pictures yet of the guests, but there will be more!
Felix thoroughly enjoying a bath from Aunty Steph.
Amaya loves her newest little cousin.

The girls.

Kanoa and Evie are best of friends. Although Kanoa commented today that Evie gives him too many kisses... too many kisses?? impossible!
The kiddos!

Today Uncle Thijs helped Amaya learn how to ride a bike. She's getting really good at it now!

One of the most fun moments of the day was when the kids got to splash around in the massive puddles left behind from all the rain. Luckily we have some video to capture the excitement of it.

Tom Pictures

When it's not actively raining, Tom ventures out on his bike and takes pictures in the fog.
