Duinrell

As a last hurray to our summer vacation, we took the kids to Duinrell today.  It is an amusement park close by in Wassenaar.  Some of the attractions are a bit dated, but there was still some pretty cool stuff there.  Tom didn't dare go in the ferris wheel, but Evie and Felix loved it!

Openluchtmuseum

Today we took our annual trip to the Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem.  Despite the weather, it was pretty fun!  Mirre came with us.  We unfortunately had a little incident moments before reaching the museum.  Evie has a tendency of getting carsick, so we always have extra clothes for her.  This time, however, Felix was the one who got sick, and we were not prepared.  We stopped at a bowling alley, where they loaned us sweater from lost and found.  We planned on getting a tshirt at the museum, but they didn't have any!

5 Year Anniversary = 5 Days Rome

This past week we celebrated five years of marriage, and what better way to celebrate but go to Rome?  Tom mentioned the idea back in January, so we jumped on the idea and booked a vacation.  As lovely as it was, I never want to go back to July in the summer!  Hot, hot, hot!!!  But we saw so much - The coliseum, Trevi fountain, Vatican, Pantheon, etc.  We also had some amazing Italian food.  Unfortunately, not all our meals were up to par, but ones that were - bellissimo!  We hope to return some day (in the fall!) with the kids.

Bosjes van Pex

The bakfiets has been seeing a lot of use lately.  It is so perfect to load up and take to the park.  Today Tom took the kids to one of our favorites, the Bosjes van Pex.  There the kids played catch and kicked a ball around.  It was a perfectly beautiful summer day!

Three years later, and Carla and Felix are still best of friends.  Look how cute they are when they hug eachother!

Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Evie's birthday with friends and family.  She requested another Barbie cake.  We also got to see baby Isa, who is just barely a month old and oh-so-sweet!

Future profession?

Felix is already enjoying one of Evie's new toys.  Could it be his future profession?

Evie's 6th Birthday

Today was Evie's 6th Birthday!  She awoke to presents and a decorated chair, as always.  Today was a half day of school, so she got to have her friends party this afternoon.  Mirre, Julia, Timo, Puck, en Jolie were all invited.  After lunch and cake at home, we all went by bike (Tom got to really try out his new bakfiets!) to the Communication Museum.  So much fun!  On the way home we stopped at the playground for a bit.

New Wheels

We've got some new wheels!  Tom purchased a typical Dutch type of bike called a "bakfiets."  He's hoping to someday (in the near future) restore it to its former glory.  It's great for rides to beach, grocery store, or if we have to take a couple extra kids somewhere.  Could come in handy someday...

Mother's Day

Mother's Day!  I was able to sleep in longer than usual and was treated to a delicious breakfast with my loving family.  I was also spoiled with the box blu-ray set of Harry Potter!  I sense a Harathon in our near future...

Birthday at the Creche

Felix celebrated his birthday today at the creche.  The highlight was, of course, being able to stand on the table!  For his presents to his friends he gave sidewalk chalk wrapped in Toy Story paper, a cookie, and a photo of Felix with his favorite character, Buzz Lightyear!

Vacation with Grandma and Grandpa

We were lucky enough to have Grandma Nan and Grandpa David visit us this past week.  And what a week it was!!!  Our itinerary was packed with fun and cultural activities.  We went to Muiderslot, celebrated Queen's day, vacationed in Disneyland, visited Brussels, and had a birthday party for Felix.  I put together a scrapbook for Grandma and Grandpa and have it included a smaller version of it at the end of the blog book.  Thank you so much, Grandma and Grandpa, for the wonderful vacation!
