Rainy Rotterdam

Today we ventured out without the kids to explore Rotterdam. Steph had never been here, and we thought it would be a nice place for her to check out, seeing as it is the largest port in Europe. The weather is following the trend of the week of rain, rain, rain. But that didn't stop us from having fun. The day started with a tour of the harbor. Despite the weather we were impressed by the huge container ships. Steph also got to check out the wheelhouse and talk to Captain Tjeerd. After the tour, Tom left us for a little bit to visit is former employers. Steph and Liz decided to check out the Euromast. The Euromast is a spaceneedle-like tower. The experience would have been decidedly better had the weather been a little bit better. Instead, it was cold, windy, and wet... but hey, this is Holland. It was still cool. We rendezvoused for lunch at Shabu Shabu, an all you can eat sushi restaurant. It is one of our favorite places to go, and Steph was completely blown away by the idea of all you can eat sushi! We were stuffed afterwards and very much ready to head back to The Hague.

We still don't know why this tree looks like this...

If you look (very) closely, you can see our reflection in the lamp.

Atop the Euromast... from the inside.
