Sinterklaas Presents Evening

Tonight was the night! Sinterklaas finally delivered the big bag of presents. Aunty Rachel and Opa and Oma came over to celebrate with us.
Evie has been working on her steamboat at school for sometime now. This evening it had a place of honor as the table piece.

No Sinterklaas party is complete without the classic Sinterklaas sweets.

The kids were so happy when the platter made it to the table.

For dinner we had vegetarian chilli and quesadillas.

After dinner we sang all the songs in the Sinterklaas songbook.

Then we heard some knocking on the windows and doors!!! By the time we got there, Sint and Piet were gone, but there were two big bags of presents at our doorstep!

Evie ran to the window when the noises came from here, but she got quite nervous when they came from the door.

Group photo before opening presents.

There were many presents to be opened!

Another Barbie!

Felix was so cute when he opened this monkey stuffed animal and gave it a big cuddle.

Always happy with every present, Evie jumps for joys at her new gloves.

Aunty and Evie

Felix loves all the trucks he got.

But his favorite is the firetruck!!

The doll looks just like Evie when she does her gymnastics!

Before bed there was some time to play with the toys. Evie's new pet hampster managed to explore nearly the whole house. (don't worry, it's not real... no poop!)

After the kids went to bed, the adults played a Sinterklaas game. There were about thirty presents that were swapped left and right. Sometimes someone got to choose a present from someone else, and sometimes someone had to give a present to someone else. And just when you were pretty happy with what was in front of you, you had to stand up and change places with someone else. It was quite the game!!

Tomorrow Sinterklaas will head back to Spain. Dag, Sinterklaasje! Dag, Zwarte Piet!
